If you want to go completely waste-free, leave the open waxed container in the freezer for a couple hours as you would a glass jar, close and fold the top in and stuff in a cloth or similar freezer-safe non-plastic bag.
Check the “Use by” or “Sell by” date on the milk container. Discard the milk if this date has passed.
